Hospice Care at Sunset Senior Living
Quality of life at the end of life is our top priority for Hospice Care. We understand how hard it is to watch a loved one go through a life-limiting, end-stage illness as they near death, and we are here to support you through all of it.
Hospice Care could be recommended for your loved one for a variety of reasons. For example, a patient may decide to no longer undergo medical treatment, or a patient may be battling an illness without a cure. In these situations, attempts to cure or slow the illness are stopped as medical treatment is no longer deemed effective. The focus of care then shifts from treating an illness to making the person as comfortable as possible with hospice services such as:
- Medication to Manage Pain and Symptoms
- Therapy Services
- Emotional, Psychological, and Spiritual Counseling
- Visits from Healthcare Workers
- Patient-Specific Medical Equipment and Supplies
- Home-Like Amenities
- Personalized Care & Support
- Respite Care for Caregivers
To us, Hospice Care means more than simply providing end-of-life medical care. It means providing your loved one with comfort and daily care, as well as emotional, social, and spiritual enrichment. It also means providing a safe haven during an extremely emotional, and sometimes scary, time for both patients and families. It is normal to feel a combination of emotions during this time, and our programs are designed to ease the transition into hospice.
It is also important to remember that entering Hospice Care doesn’t mean that death is immediately imminent. Hospice allows patients and families to take advantage of the benefits that hospice care brings. Patients may feel a restored sense of dignity as they live their final months in a familiar environment surrounded by family and friends. Last wishes of patients have time to be fulfilled, and loved ones have the opportunity to say goodbye.
At Sunset, our team of specially trained, Hospice-Care professionals and volunteers have years of experience caring for people both in the patients’ home and within our facility. Our comprehensive approach is respectful, understanding and designed to provide exceptional end of life care.
We provide a variety of certified Hospice programs to give our residents a choice. If you would like to learn more about providing Hospice Care for your loved one, give us a call at (217) 223-2636
